Miho no Matsubara is a famous scenic spot in Japan’s Shizuoka Prefecture. The area draws an exceptional amount of visitors, even for a world heritage site. And yet Masashi Horikawa’s eyes ignore this premise altogether.

What can be found in “Miho” are the smells, the moods that permeate places of daily living, the innocent moments that develop within rays of light, showing us that photographs wait to be discovered within the quietness of ordinary life.

Following his 2016 solo exhibition “Michikusa wo kuu” at Sokyusha Gallery, “Miho” is Masashi Horikawa’s first photobook.
