It has been 18 years since my wife, Haru and I started making artworks from used skateboards in 2003.
We were working in the accessories business at that time, but we left our jobs in order to start this project.

We didn't have any money, but as an avid skateboarder I had a lot of damaged decks from those that I had finished using, and I could also get my hands on as many more as I wanted from my friends.

At first we had no idea how to cut these decks, so we simply bought a second-hand table saw.
It was in a small one-room apartment in Shibuya that the two of us started “Haroshi.”

In any case, the past 18 years has been about putting all the time that we had into creating our works. In retrospect, it all happened so fast, but by no means did it feel like a short time.

Although we still have a long way to go, we are very pleased to be able to compile our works spanning from early to more recent together in one book, which is something that we have always wanted to do.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the people who have been there for us from the very beginning.
