Beat Schlatter, one of Switzerland‘s best-known cabaret artists and actors, is a passionate postcard collector. He has been collecting picture postcards for decades. The majority of the colourful cards date from between the 1960s and 1980s, the pinnacle of European tourism. For the publication Postcards, Beat Schlatter has selected more than four hundred picture postcards from his extensive collection, ordering them in twelve pictorial chapters: for example, beach promenades, hotels, gardens and fountains, cityscapes by night, Alpine roads or snow-covered winter scenes. The picture postcard conjures up a holiday mood, preserves souvenirs, stimulates wanderlust and temporarily satisfies the longing of those stay-at-homes. A book that will make the viewer wonder, smile and remember.
