‘Remodeling’ is a collaboration between art director Kumi Hiroi and photographer Anneke Hymmen that lies somewhere between an analytical and intuitive approach to image making. To what extent are our preferences and ideas about beauty really our own? In closely examining the fashion industry, the pair dissects the images in fashion magazines through various keywords used to describe them. Anneke, drawn by the relationship between people and their environment, captures the energy of the models. Kumi acts as the storyteller, threading a structure that runs through the entire project. Includes six written contributions inspired by these visual re-readings.
