Yūichi Yokoyama was discovered in France through his numerous books, translated and published by Éditions Matière. The term he uses to describe them, "neo-manga," helps define what they are: comics that follow certain formal codes rooted in tradition but belong to a new genre.

While Neutre presents two previously unpublished mangas, the book primarily gathers paintings, drawings, and color collages, revealing a lesser-known facet of his work. The color pieces assembled here serve as a counterpoint to the turmoil of his mangas: silent and delicate images, pop collages emerging from chaos, geometric shapes juxtaposed against a neutral background.

Co-published by Fotokino, Éditions Matière, and Ok Des Paris

Neutre was created in collaboration with the ANOMALY and Nanzuka galleries (Tokyo), the publisher 888books (Tokyo), and with the assistance of Makiko Furuichi.
