Oriol Maspons - now, sadly no longer with us - was one of the great Spanish photographers of the twentieth century. As per the Museu Nacional D’art De Catalunya, “Oriol Maspons played a crucial role in the renewal of photographic language in Spain in the 1950s and 1960s.” And, as per IDEA in this press release, “Oriol Maspons took hundreds and hundreds of the best early Ibiza photos you have ever seen.” Maspons worked in many fields: reportage, portraiture, fashion and advertising but, when he was not working, when he was, as he was, in Ibiza every summer from the late 1960s to late 1980s, he took pictures for pleasure. Of pleasure for pleasure. And - oh, wow - are they good!
