24 young artists shaping the future of photography

The Talent Issue is a career-building platform, helping to launch aspiring image-makers into the international photography industry and giving them global acclaim and recognition.

Each year, Foam organises an international Talent Call to identify young, emerging photographers under the age of 35. The 2016 Talent Call for Foam Magazine had a total of 1494 submissions from 75 different countries across 6 continents. Once again, the jury was delighted by the impressive variety and high quality of all submissions.

The portfolios of the 24 selected photographers of this year's Talent Call are featured in this Talent Issue, accompanied by an essay that offers insight into the nature and concept of the project. These talents are:

Sofia Ayarzagoitia, Juno Calypso, Bubi Canal, Paolo Ciregia, Sam Contis, Jack Davison, Nicolo Degiorgis, Katinka Goldberg, Andrea Grützner, Samuel Gratacap, Maxime Guyon, Felicity Hammond, Alexandra Hunts, Taejoong Kim, Nico Krijno, Leo Maguire, Stefanie Moshammer, Andrés Felipe Orjuela, Antonio Ottomanelli, Daan Paans, Louise Parker, Andrejs Strokins, Ilona Szwarc, Daisuke Yokota.

Furthermore, Foam Magazine’s regular features offer a glimpse at the latest projects of a number of former Talents. ‘Unexpected Marriages’ profiles a recent collaboration between Japanese fashion house ISSEY MIYAKE and photographer Yoshinori Mizutani, whilst in ‘Toolbox’ Daniel Gordon – a previous recipient of the Foam Paul Huf Award – reveals more about the process that culminates in his striking collage-based works. Issue #45 also features an extended interview with Darius Himes, Head of Photographs at Christie’s, in which he offers advice to future generations of aspiring image-makers.
