Anything entering an aseptic field will alter its pristine nature. It will slowly contaminate its parts and change its colours, sounds and textures, distorting what lies inside the protective walls.

Aseptic Field, Lean Lui’s second book, lets us be the foreign object invading a sanctuary that preserves a sterile world that remains untouched and pure until our presence turns into something dark and unnerving.

Lean Lui’s images explore themes of sensuality, innocence and personal connection and the way these concepts, along with the ideas of seduction, intimacy and lust and undergo a slow process of contamination from the outside, transforming innocent fantasies, paradigms of perfection and purity into the disconcerting experiences of fear, desire, pain and isolation that we, as humans, inevitably encounter in an imperfect world.
