IMA Vol.12: New Phase of Documentary
New Phase of Documentary
The evolution of digital communication tools in this century is significantly transforming documentary photography. As commercial influences shake media credibility, agency for reportage is increasingly shifting to the public. Photography has had to remove itself from the conventional frameworks of documentary, such as “immediacy,” “reality,” and the importance of being “on-site.”
What do “truth” and “documentation” mean today? The current volume addresses the new territory of documentary photography, cultivated by photographers who have employed various contexts to search for a viable approach and expand the possibilities of expression.
